Here's the stamps from the last quiz. Some lucky winner will get them this time.

What geographic location was the subject of the world's longest international mediation to determine ownership?

Which country issued a 3 stamp set honoring Rotary International but only made 2 of the 3 stamps available in unused condition?

First correct response at or before 7/23/2021 noon eastern US time wins. If there is no correct response, first response wins. All responses in English, please. My decision as to winner is final.

Good luck to all who choose to participate!

Hi.
Perhaps the Korean Peninsula along the 38th parallel was the most disputed one in history. It has been mediated for years until a ceasefire was arranged along the zero point.
Another guess would be the Kuril Islands.

I guess Austria was the first state to issue a 3 set Rotary postal stamps but only sold 2 set?

best.
Nice to see your entry Subha. You are not correct but I see my second question was not worded clearly so I am rewording it if you want to try again.

And for mediation, I mean final completed binding mediation by a neutral party over an ownership dispute between 2 rival countries.
1) Kashmir
2) an african country.

Frenchlover, wrong and wrong, boo-hoo! The mediation was completed in the first half of 20th century and I don't know of any continued dispute.

Second question needs a specific country and I won't say if African or not.

Will
My second guess would be The Treaty of Portsmouth 1905 which gave the southern half of Sakhalin islands from Russia to Japan. The United States was the mediator at the conference.

Cyprus was the one who issued a 3 set Rotary International stamps but only sold 2 set.
The way I see it is they issued a 3 stamps set and one of them was cancelled, like a FDC or something. I don't think he's asking how many were sold. Also I got my stamps in the mail today mate, thank you!
Also the first one could be a 170 years dispute that I know of :D. I am not going to say more
Allexis,

You are on the right track about the stamp set. As for the international mediation, I want the longest mediation conducted by a single neutral party, all in the 20th century.

I'm glad the stamps arrived OK!

May be the Clipperton dispute between France and Mexico arbitrated by Italy between 1909 and 1931 ?
A quite fascinating history with a rapist and stalker king, forgotten inhabitants, Mexicans and pirates, Roosevelt's island-X, bags of cocaine, a poisoned lake, etc ...

By the way I received my stamps today, I'm glad, thanks you :8D

Frenchlover,

You have the first one correct. But to win you need the second also. I'm glad your earlier stamps arrived.

About 40 hours left until I have to declare a winner. There is still time for anyone to search out the answer to the second question. There is a strategy that could be used and guarantee a correct answer. Surely someone can think of it but I can't give any more hints.

Just a wild guess: Egypt for the 2nd question.
I think I found the 2nd answer.
It's Belize. On March 1980, the 3 set stamps were only for sale for 2 hours and yet. Only 2 of them were sold.
Nowadays, their value is around 1200$ if you can find one - according to a collector.
Subha, sorry, but the Belize stamp was not officially issued due to a map that was considered incorrect. Good try but the country I am looking for sold the stamp set of 3 officially. It was one stamp of the set that could only be bought used. If any of the Belize stamps were accidentally sold, they were unused.

There's still time to identify the correct country!

It's not an easy question, "CTO" is the leading word
Referee of south atlantic islands
CTO is not the only used condition. As allexis said, I could mean FDC.

Will
you mean "first-day cover" ?
In french FDC is "Fleur de coin" as "Brillant uncirculated" for coins, I mixed coins and stamps :D
Referee of south atlantic islands
Yes First Day Cover
Status changed to Solved (Coinman48, 23 Jul 2021, 19:21)
Subha,

As the first person to send a response you are the winner since no one else submitted both correct answers.

Frenchlover had the right first answer but no one had the right second answer: Guyana. In 1985 Michel 1372 was issued but available only on a First Day Cover; 1373 and 1374 were normally available.

Subha, your stamps will be on their way soon. Enjoy!
