Gepid Kingdom, Not Copy & Type?

4 posts • viewed 106 times
Hello everyone!

I have questions about this coin. I understand this is Gepid Kingdom 1/4 siliqua. I looked at the Numista database, it lists a lot of similar types, the closest I found is this one, but not quite exactly. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces144414.html

So my questions are:
1. Is this coin original?
2. Maybe someone knows where I can see more types of them?
Edit: Probably this is the type 7) D N ANASTASIVS PP AVC / MINVIA - A ROMAD that is listed there.

Weight: 0.9 g
Diameter 12-14 mm

Thank you!
Bump.
Hello!

You are correct about the Numista page--that one is your type.

And I believe your example is genuine. The dimensions are all acceptable; the break looks realistic (these coins are very brittle); and there is also a great variety in crudeness of these types, so nothing about the design looks off to me either.

For genuine examples to compares yours to, I would advise you to look through these listings. There are quite a few there, including some of your exact legend variety. One of them even appears to have been struck from the same dies as your example:
