I have asked this question on another coin forum and nobody could give me a solid answer as to what the coin is.

Could somebody please help me Identify this Chinese/Asian coin?. also it is somewhat similar to this coin from Taiwan: http://www.cointalk.com/attachments/79955d1277809455-taiwantael350.jpg

also when I use a magnet on the coin it sticks to it. I don't know what that means but yeah....
It's fake.

It's supposed to be a 1905 Tael which, at the time, was made of silver and was worth a good amount of money. The design on the reverse is a fantasy design.

I have seen a few of these myself. I think they are copies of the  other coin you posted. I call them copies to avoid calling them fakes. I'm not sure if they were made to pass off as real coins or are made as tokens that just use similar designs.

Maybe some else can add a little more insight.
They're definitely modern counterfeits trying to pass off as the real (fantasy) coin.

Great! thanks for the information.

I originally bought this coin at the flea market for around $2.00 and I think the guy I bought it from didn't know what it was. I bought it because it was cheap and I liked the Dragon on it.

thanks once again for all the help and information.
