I really like this website, but a thing that's bothering me is the lack of action when it comes to adding new nations.
I don't even know where to put this tirade, because it's not a request or anything like that, so I thought I put it in the forum where everything fits (and maybe won't get ignored like the rest, idk).
I saw a few coins over time that come from nations/kingdoms/states whatever, which are not represented in the numista catalog. So my answer to the question in the title was "make a request in the forum to add a nation". Well, I did this 3 times and got basically ignored every single time. I think I got at least 1 reply to one post that agreed with me. That's it.
I guess the first instinct of people who read this is "well, I guess that guy just requested total bullshit".
Of the 3 requests, all nations were listed at the auction sites of the coins, I looked up Wikipedia, etc to confirm that it wasn't part of another nation, and one even is listed separately in the Krause catalog.
So my answer to the question seems to be wrong. So I came up with another: "Just add the coins into countries you know are wrong, but at least are regionally right and are just a few years short of being correct."
I thought by that way, at least referees get notice of the problem. I tried that with one of the coins, but the problem is, that I, unfortunately, choose the least active referee on this website. I have other requests open in his/her area for over 3 months now. I think that's a bit much, but it is in line with the lack of action in adding new nations too, so I guess it makes sense.
I'm actually considering just adding these coins into the Exonumia section and see what happens.
There are things that happen really fast in here. Bugs get fixed incredibly fast in my observation and there are also referees who are fast, but in the end, there is a person here who wants to add coins to the catalog, but can't. And I don't think that's very good for the website.
G'day mate!
Yes, minor problems get fixed immediately, bigger problems takes a long time.
I'm curious what countries you are talking about . I'm sure it must be older colonies/republics. Have you tried, while adding a new entry, to search for the country? The country might exist, but there's no coins in the catalogue.
You can always contact Xavier and request to add the country. Don't forget to add pictures of the coins in question.

Good luck!
There are no coins minted by Schaumburg-Pinneberg.
it is a mistake by KM catalogue.
the coins are correctly displayed here on Numista as issued by issuer:
- Schleswig-Holstein-Schauenburg

That is an answer I can work with. Thanks, I will look there and maybe add a few coins.

If the post is properly marked as a request for a new issuer, it won't get ignored. It just takes a while to look at these, because they need to be researched, and there is a long backlog of requests. There are thousands of countries that still need to be added, which will take a lot of time. But we'll add all of them step by step.
