Can anyone speak to the type of gorilla that Maheshe is? The information on the web about the national park where he lived seemed to indicate that he is eastern- lowland. But the banknote book claims him to be western.

I lean towards the National Park website, but hope that an expert might make themselves heard as well...

Maheshe was indeed an Eastern lowland gorilla, unfortunately killed in 1993 with his head being sold off for $200
