Hi
This coin:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1559.html
the 1981 version has been minted in 183.600.000 pieces by Canberra Mint
and 40.300.000 pieces by Wales Mint.
But there is no explanation about how to differentiate them.
So please can anyone tell me the difference or maybe describe it on the coin page.
Thank you very much

I suppose it's the same as for the 1966 coin.

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
No - Canberra, Perth, Melbourne - all Australian.
None are the Wales mint.

Sorry, I definitively misread the question. Mea culpa! z|

I did find this topic, which mentions there is no difference between the mints: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic87122.html

I have copied my response from the other thread ...

Hi

There is no known difference between the Australian 1 cent coin from both Mints in 1981. The only thing known about them is that the Wales Mint produced 40,300,000 of them and the RAM (Canberra) produced 134,290,000 of them.

When the 1 cent and 2 cent coins were withdrawn in 1991 they were returned to the mint. They were eventually melted down and the metal was used to make the Bronze Medals for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Regards Mike

There you have it.

PS . .the Wales mint is not in New South Wales ... it is in Wales which is part of the United Kingdom.

I think the line that says Wales mint should be eliminated then and a note added mentioning it could be from either
That would be smart. What's the use having two year lines for the same coin.
