Based on topics of the brown euro cent coins like here f.ex. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic108770.html I think we have to try to do something instead of just waiting for a miracle:°

I have tried to set up a proposal:

At least it's a start, maybe a solution will be completely different

Hello,

I think a Numista number is a good idea! There is a similar discussion on this here:

:wiz:
But with what you have proposed you are replacing nothing you just put new skin on an old corpse (maybe it will rise again from the dead but who knows). We keep the errors, the incompatibilities with Numista's "countries" and maybe a couple other things I can't think of right now

We would need our essentially our own system and that is really not that easy. But if you can work out a good system than propose it and we will have a look at it.
There are if we generalize maybe three paths a quasi cyclical (like Krause and the majority of other catalogs) were you have your system laid out like in categories containing entries like 1, 2, 3 ... and if you missed something you have to squish in some prefix entries like 1, A1, 2 ... and after a few generations you might do a renumbering fixing misplaced or squished entries.
Then there is eternal where you have a semi random alphanumerical string functioning as an ID that stays the same no matter what but from outside you really can't see much of a system and can't sort it that well. In the case of errors you will still have change in the sense of losing entries.
The third would be some kind of hybrid system.

What ever is proposed at the end just using KM numbers and adding stuff doesn't feel like a good solution to me.
Ole - gather 5-6 numista "elders" in a zoom room and finish this. Forum discussion is fruitless just like modern politics. Democracy is not always the best solution.
