Since some collectors/shops see cleaned or holed coins as worthless, or not more than the metal value; no numismatic value. Some coingrading companies, as of my knowledg, doesn't grade cleaned/holed coins, but just put them as "cleaned" or "holed" or maybe even "bended"?
I thought, below the grades for when we put coins into our collections, could have a box saying "cleaned" and "holed" ("bended" too?), but still be able to put a grade on though.
I know it can be hard, for us not into the coin bussines, to know if a coin has been cleaned, and adding a little risk, if one choose a coin in a swap, graded eg. XF, but it is just cleaned.
Not as thought thruge, but I thought something similar could be done with banknotes too? Like "taped together" or "not whole" (eg. missing a corner).
I think this could be a good idea mostly for one's personal collection: I have coin X, but it is holed, so I want to find a new, but have this coin in my collection untill then. It would be more easy to find the coin one want to substitude later (I know I can just put a privat comment saying "holed" and searche for that, but still)
I also think, since coingrading companies and other collectors may mark the coins as "ungradeable" if it's cleaned or holed, this could be a good thing to add?
I of course don't think we should have a all sorts of boxes for "dent", "rotatet" or other. I just think especially those first two, are so common/has an effect on the coin, that it could be a good idea.
Hope it make sense.
What do people think?
