Probably get roasted for this one.

Lately there is a new member called "W******** **********s" who claims he/she/they is English but their English suggests to me they are not.

I have no personal objections with them, but they ask an incredibly high number of questions and also post a lot of threads asking for pictures of coins from eras and countries. At first I thought it was okay - but now its like every 2nd or even 2 out of 3 threads is by them and asking some pointless question (One was some throwaway piece of paper from a Royal Australian Mint product).

They could really be a naive wunderkind who is curious, but I suspect its more sinister. This person is collecting images either for some spam or googlebot (Or possibly for defrauding people on ebay) or maybe even to start making fakes in a coin mill somewhere.

In no way am I accusing the member of this, I am merely suggesting it is a remote possiblilty and apologise in the most sincereist form if I am completely wrong.

What do you guys think - do we give this dude a holiday or just let it slide or not worry.

He has promised to leave the boards for a while, but I sincerely doubt he will.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Maybe that would be good but should at the same time have a "votometer" at hand. Every user collects upvotes and downvotes. The votometer shows the amount authors "positive/productive" and "negative/unproductive" participation or just the sum of it. When it hits critical level (to be defined), some soft restrictions should probably be implemented (to be defined).
There is also the question what can an unsuspicious user do, if he/she is being intentionally targeted with down votes?
I don't mind the proposal (I usually skip the cabbage talk).

Hello Moneytane

I understand your concerns and suspicions about me and my activity on the forum in the last few weeks.
  • Firstly about my language I can speak English and I’ve been doing so since 2010 (aged 6) since doing speech therapy in specialist education school where I learnt all my educational (since arriving in the U.K. in 2007 primary 2007-2015 and secondary 2015-2020) . It’s the way I type that’s the issue when I respond to a comment I have it pictured in my head and my response to it but it seems that it sometimes gets lost during the time that I type the response.
  • About that paper thing from the Royal mint U.K. I posted that on the forum because I didn’t find anything about it on the internet but someone kindly responded that it was a card normally included with the Gold sovereign showing the number out of the many minted (which in my case was the 1st but sadly no gold coin that came with it)
  • I’m just a naive wunderkind very curious 17 year old that likes to visually see things because I better understand things with photos for example when I had 4 teeth removed back in January 2020 I was nervous so the doctors showed what will happen and and things they would use.
  • Thanks for being open and calm about your concerns regarding me and not just instantly complaining and causing arguments.👍
  • When I originally posted those treads I thought that people would react positively and post good content on them, shoutout to those who have.

  • Also is the reason that most of you have got upset and annoyed about the high amount of topics that I’ve posted would you be able to tolerate it if I originally posted the 50s to now posts a month apart?
  • About your assumptions I’m not a spammer in any way (I understand things better visually)if I was the topics would be something like coin744886551. Also I’m not a robot doing dirty things on the site and about Ebay I don’t even have a Ebay account I ask my parents to buy the lots that I need or like in a suitable price range.
  • Of course I’m having a break from the free discussion forum until early June time just to let everyone calm down.
  • And again thanks for expressing your views in a calm and kind way. You and others would have noticed that when things get out of hand here I respond in a calm way this is my way of defusing the situation when that fails I just take a back seat and let everyone else continue “waffling” like the teaching assistant at my old school used to say.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
Moneytane & mikimaus - valid points.
The votometer is an excellent idea - defining a critical level is not going to be easy. Like you said definite scope for mischief.
I was completely wrong sorry. The member has innocent intentions.

Mods please withdraw this suggestion and lock the thread.

Thanks
