Hi

My pictures posted on Numista are getting hot fetish, you may find them also on token catalog (without approval of course). I guess the Colnect disease is spreading rapidly.

Seems to be all the same dude most likely the same one who adds the TC#s
James Delaney (delaneyjp)

I would not mind if the "dude" would at least mention Numista as a source.

"THE TOKENS YOU SEE ON THE TokenCatalog.com SITE ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY - THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE. They have been contributed by many individuals [...]"

It might be that someone else has copied the pictures and added them to his site, considering the "they have been contributed" part. Just saying, before you go on too hard on him.
I am removing the words I said here.
My name is Jim Delaney, delaneyjp on tokencatalog.com and it appears I am the topic of this thread. Would you like me to respond on this forum or would you prefer a one on one conversation.

If possible, a public response would be the best so the whole community can take part in what really happened. Thank you!

Hi

There are two types of pictures on Numista, added by Numista members and copyrighted pictures which were approved to be used only on Numista by a third party owner (see also another open thread https://en.numista.com/forum/topic108373.html).

For pictures of coins, tokens and banknotes I have taken and published at Numista, I have never given any public consent for anyone else other than Numista to use these pictures. For as long as Numista (similarly like Wikipedia) respectively does not offer possibility setting up user preferences (OR individually per published page), per demands of third parties or the Numista as a whole itself on the type of copyright access, so long no one should copy pictures for any kind of use, be it personal, public or commercial. I am also not aware of any agreements between TokenCatalog and Numista, that allow sharing pictures added by users of both communities (I may go too far with my statement here).

My personal choice would be to allow the use of pictures as long as my nickname and the page Numista is referenced as a source, preferably with the link to the source site on Numista.

The types of access and referencing the materiel from Numista is a matter which is yet to be discussed on this site by Numista community (or maybe it already was).

Which is the exact reason I started this topic :)
They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
After looking at your pictures it appears I have no excuse. I work 12-15 hour days as a prison guard (senior correctional officer) and cataloging car wash and prison-related tokens are my way of decompressing from a very stressful job. I have files of pictures sent to me from all over the world by other collectors and to be honest, I never question where they get them from. Again, I have no excuse. I should be more vigilant with the source. When asked I always identify the individual or site. Scroll through the car wash listings on tokencatalog.com as well as my car wash token Facebook group and you will see that I try my best to list the source. I have nearly a thousand scans still waiting to be cataloged and I am certain some may be yours. Since I began cataloging car wash tokens and assigning a catalog number the hobby has grown considerably. I currently have 12,911 different car wash tokens listed and cataloged. There was never any malcontent or attempt to pilfer your quality work. I do remember asking several collectors if they knew how to get in touch with you because I had hoped to find a new trading source. I did not know at the time you were simply a click away on this very site. I have even attempted to do a trade with you on this site in the past but you wanted more than I was willing to trade. So, I wish to apologize and will review my listing to remove your pictures. Please understand that without knowing which ones are yours this may take a little time and I ask you for patience.
Now about the comments about my character and my parent's character I feel that was very uncalled for. My father served 31 years in the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret) and has 2 silver stars, 2 bronze stars, and 16 purple hearts. Although he was rarely home because of his commitment to his country he was an outstanding role model. My mother busted her ass to take care of 4 children in his absence and all of us have gone on to be very productive members of society. I followed in my father's footsteps and had a distinguished 20 year Army career and for the last 24 years, I have been in the public service/ law enforcement field.
So, I wish to formally apologize to you and the members of Numista and I will do my best to correct whatever I can.

I agree. That was really a hit under the belt and I hope I won't see that again. You do your best, and we appreciate that. Good luck with your collection and cataloguing! :)
Would you prefer to have your scans deleted or have "Images courtesy mikimaus on numista.com" added?
I let the Numista community decide over this. The picture is actually not mine anymore in the moment it is published on Numista...

Your pictures are published on Numista but they are still yours. Nobody else than you can decide who can reuse your pictures and how they should credit you. Of course this decision will only impact the pictures you posted, and not the pictures posted by other members on Numista.
Hi
OK, thanks on explanation. I have replied to the person, that I would be alright with him referencing the Numista as a source. I hope we soon get something similar as explained to some detail here:

To anyone, how do we proceed?
