Hello everyone! I was wondering if there are any good books, webpages, or videos on State/territorial issued notes. I have done some poking around and have not turned up any good results. Thank you for reading and any contribution you may have!
This is a good reference on obsolete currency if that is what you are looking for.

If you are also interested in the historical background/context of pre-Civil War US banknotes, this book might be of interest to you (though it’s not a catalog):

Bank Notes and Shinplasters: The Rage for Paper Money in the Early Republic by Joshua R. Greenberg

The book is for found for sale on Amazon, ABE, etc.

Here is a recent free webinar by the author on the topic:

thank you so much, this was exactly the kinda thing i was looking for i really like the online resources plus they are easy to share thank you !
I know Whitman made a Guide book to us paper money awhile back. The only edition I got is from 2016 though. Really haven't looked into anything more recent from them. Maybe check eBay out. The real question tho is does anyone know of any price guide for world paper money? 🤔

The values on PMG tend to be greatly inflated above what you can usually get bank notes for. I would suggest that you cut PMG prices in half as a minimum if you are really interested in a specific note.

i agree. I always look at these with a grain of salt, but some resource even if its not that great can still be helpful

- I'm happy you found the page helpful. Perhaps you might want to bookmark it (or the links).

1) It takes a bit of time to process all that info (FRB codes, replacement runs, etc) so take your time wading into it.
2) it may be a good idea to focus on a particular domination (or 1 or 2) & what series until you get comfortable & a clearer understanding of what exactly you are looking for.

I'm pretty sure its the Friedberg Paper Money of the United States reference you want since that's what I hear most of my fellow US collectors refer to. You could also get a copy from eBay. That link is just to one seller (you may want to try more) & I have bought used editions in the past since the price drops dramatically & the new editions aren't that much different from ones 1 or 2 years old.

I cannot emphasize enough how useful it is to have a hard copy catalogue. I learn far more from these than I do from the online stuff- but to each his own. Online forums such as this one are what I like the most (getting other's opinions).

"Blue-m" is correct: PMG prices are fairly lofty. But the catalogues can be either way (high or low- dated & you'll ever see a note sell for so low due to increased popularity). It is important to remember that catalog BV (Book Values) are only reference points of what a buyer may be expected to pay: they're not gospel. Prices will vary according to several market factors.

"jacemcdonald" you could try the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money (SCWPM for short). Here's a listing on eBay right now.
