Odd 1901 Victorian Penny [solved]

I've only ever seen these in bronze, but this looks like silver over copper. Has anyone seen this variety before? Is it an error?

Looks like it has been plated at sometime. There are no metal variations with this coin.

Agreed. Plated. I also have a Victoria 1901 bronze coin which has been plated - outside of the mint
