Are picture links from bundled auction sites ok?

Hi, I like to add pictures in here a lot, because it's boring to look at a list of coins without pictures.
And there is a huge amount of websites to get pictures from who get authorized on here.
There are also bundled auction sides as I call them, like Sixbid and Numista, who track all the auctions and make it easier to look at them all simultaneously. These sides take the picture from the original website, so when this original website is authorized on numista, it should be ok I guess?
I always try to get the picture from the original website, but some delete their past auctions after some time, so the pictures are only available from these other sites. I also never had problems with that and the referees accepted these pictures on here. Until today.
I used a picture from Numista, which took it from an authorized website. And it got rejected because it's not an authorized website. I pm'd the referee and asked if I understood something incorrectly.
Well, this referee can't speak English, while being a referee for an English-speaking country, which is a joke in itself. So he/she probably didn't even understand what I tried to tell.
So I'm asking in here: Is that ok? Or do I have to stop using pictures from these external websites?
And why are there even such referees who can't speak English?
Hello,

Great that you are adding missing photos:O! This helps a lot with the catalogue.

If I understand correctly, you want to use a photo like this one for example, from Sixbid:
https://www.sixbid-coin-archive.com/#/en/single/l32906021
And put "Stephen Album Rare Coins" in the copyright field.

That is perfectly fine, as long as the auction house (Stephen Album in this case) has authorised Numista to use their photosB).

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Could you tell that to the master referees too?
You might have to use the language they're able to speak tho.
Was it maybe rejected for another reason?
did you crop the picture into obverse and reverse?

No, the reason was "web site no autorized".
And when I asked the referee in a direct message, he/she ignored basically everything I wrote and replied basically the same stuff in English, not above google-translate level. That referee also rejected a lot of other picture submissions of mine, which even were on the original website. Even tho I have to admit, I messed up on a few links myself and the website is shit. It was not possible to give a link to a specific coin. I had to take the link of the auction list and give the lot and page where to find it.
Still, it discourages me to add pictures of this referee's countries, which are a lot.
You could write a PM to Strato and give him the Referee's name so he can contact him that it is ok to use and that the pictures are owned not by Sixbid but by the Auction houses which gave us the approval.

Of course you have to select the picture source correctly.
Select - I copied the picture from a website which gave the Permission
Then if the Pictures under sixbid are from a Stack's Bowers Auction, select this auction house from the dropdown list.

Best,

Paul

Hi,

This web site is autorized for you ?

https://auktionen.felzmann.de/Auktion/KatalogArchiv?stringEbene1=Europa&stringEbene2=Eurol%C3%A4nder&stringEbene3=Frankreich#undefined

No direct link for verify and the link is not in the web site autorized.
Auktionshaus Ulrich Felzmann is an approved auction house to use their pictures. I know because ai was the one receiving the approval to use their pictures.
All picture you show there are their auction photos and we can use those

It's in the list though (LIST)
This list seems not to be updated so much and misses quite a few allowed reference sources.
but this one I see in the list under Auktionshaus Ulrich Felzmann GmbH & Co. KG

The problem is that you can't search the drop-down list and personally I wouldn't want to search manually in this behemoth either.
So we should update the list or make a separate permission table for Numistdoc that gets mirrored automatically.

Click F3 and fill in "Fel", that's already enough to find that website.
Doesn't work for me the drop-down closes on my browser so I can't see the search hit. I would need to open the page's web code to do a search for the name I would need to enter in the menu.
Je parle en français car mon anglais est mauvais.

Je suis désolé mais voici mes écrans.

La source est bien indiquée (ce n'est pas le cas dans toutes les demandes sur le changement de photos)
https://auktionen.felzmann.de/Auktion/KatalogArchiv?stringEbene1=Europa&stringEbene2=Eurol%C3%A4nder&stringEbene3=Frankreich#undefined

Cordialement
This exemple is typical, and very dangerous for Numista.

It's a refrent who was accept this pictures, but this web site is not autrized web site.

Hello,

A few answers from my side:
Quote: "apuking"This list seems not to be updated so much and misses quite a few allowed reference sources.
Actually, this list updates automatically, but it only shows sources that gave written permission to Numista. Other sources, such as BNF, with open or creative common commercial licences, are not shown in the list, but can be selected in the drop-down.

For sure that is understandable, but I don't think it's a reason to reject a request. It's always better to be nice and request clarifications or help to find the info. The users also spend a long time trying to help to improve the catalogue. I don't think rejecting their requests because you don't have time to check them is right. If time is an issue on your side, you can always ask other members of the community for help.

@Trooper8:
For Auktionshaus Felzmann, you can actually get a direct link to an auction by clicking the little "print" icon on the top right. This should direct you to a page like this:
https://auktionen.felzmann.de/Los/171/2.0/Medals%2fSpezialsammlung%20Goetz-Medaillen%2fmisc
Hopefully with direct links, it will be easier for the referee to check the rerquests.

Kind regards
strato

Oh wow, I didn't see this. But to be fair, it's really not obvious to click on print. I will definitely use it for other countries when I find a coin at Felzmann again.

Thank you very much for that tip. Like Trooper8 said, no way I could have figured it out myself that clicking on that icon would give me the specific link to a coin.
