If money wasn't an issue....
which single coin or banknote would you spend a vast amount of money to obtain for your collection. For me it would be this coin - Lokris. I am sure there are many other impressive and intricately designed coins.
Here it is the beautiful face and complex hair styling with Persephone - just love this name.

- Jeez, that sounds like a collection fit for the "royal family." And I'm almost happy that money is an issue otherwise I'd be doing this full time and putting our future in jeopardy.
Anyway, would love to address my Bermuda gaps starting with this ol'37 One Pounder & then this 1947 Fiver & ending with the 10 (which I have rarely seen in original). Then I think I would tackle British Borneo, Malaya, Rhodesia, Fiji, etc.

This would be my choice: a $50 note from 1927 to 1934. An exceedingly rare denomination in what's already one of the most lucrative varieties of Hong Kong banknotes - the handsigned ones.

Many older notes were hand signed. Several older South American nations were probably the last hand signed nations and can be pretty reasonable in high grades (less than $50).
If money was no object I would have many choices but for the U.K. it would be the 2009 Blue Peter Olympic 50 pence piece.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

If you call that "Wow", how would you call this:
I would call it "stupid" or perhaps a "bidding war." But to each his own, I suppose. I cannot understand the appeal of colour trials, specimens & remainders. Specimens and colour proofs with holes in them are a huge turn-off for me (worse than pressed, graffiti, tears or non-EPQ).
Just on a side note: I've seen a lot of "stupid" hammer prices for a lot of pretty ordinary banknotes in the past year. Pretty odd considering the pandemic (but I guess people have a lot of extra time on their hands & it beats GameStop stock).

Had to look up EPQ - I like the word.
EPQ= Exceptional Paper Quality; PPQ = Perfect Paper Quality; Original = non pressed, no holes/nor any alterations to the note as issued - thus excluding all autographed, punched notes from India, Nepal, etc. You will also see this vital designation on Banknote Certification Services (BCS) holders & a few others. PMG gives "EPQ" designation to punched & autographed notes while BCS does not.
Most seasoned US collectors just say they want a "Q" note designation (meaning EPQ or PPQ). Most Canadian collectors & collectors from UK use the term "original" for banknotes which have crisp unaltered paper & vibrant colours: super "eye appeal." The $54,000 colour trial specimen is a quite a pressed/punctured "ugly ducking" in my books (for an item that never reached circulation).
Interesting information.
That is an insane price for something that never reached circulation.
I have a lovely UNC note from Costa Rica. This bank closed before it could commence operations. The note I have is an absolute beauty with the designs. The intricate artwork is actually palpable

Nice
It looks like this is the cheapest thing that I chosen not this list even thought they retail between £300 GDP and £900 GDP in MS69 condition.

Lucky you

I would have gotten a couple of Chinese commemorative sports coins from 1980 to 2006 by now... but they are expensive.
If I had to say one that actually might be possible it would be the Texas commemorative half dollar United States the reverse is so beautiful any one own one?https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces10327.html
On that page there are two members who have it for exchange.
yeah well one it sais its a copy and the other its in very very good condition meaning $200 plus aint got money saved up for that yet and mom would not allow it on a coin thats not from the 1700's back unless if gold for that she says "you got to learn not to go spending more than a certian percentage of money on something at once. This is a lesson for you to learn for later on in life." I mean I'm a kid for god sakes that percentage of money isn't much untill I get a well paying job lol.
Bank of Ireland £500 note, dated 1869!
Only trouble is that I would need to buy a controlling shareholding in the bank to get an example of the note - well, money is no object.
In my opinion, they are some of the most beautiful Brazilian coins ever. However, after seeing the listings on the pages, they are not as expensive as I thought (even though they're not cheap either).
Personally, I would buy any gold coins. Firstly, it is more always a coin that will be of value because it consists of gold. Secondly, I love gold. lol
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

That's a nice note @BlueHawk but if you like Costa Rican currency, & money is no barrier, then you got to strive for THE P-167 Mona Lisa note. Apparently, it has quite a following, and can cost hundreds for a VG example (which I learned after watching the ANA video Beauty & the Banknote: The Feminine touch). Another famous (& hence pricey) note is the Portugal 500 Escudos since it was this note which the infamous Alves do Reis managed to get reprinted to cause the Portuguese banknote crises.

-I have no doubt @Hibernia as that was a LOT of money back then.
In Canada, the 1935 $500 (French version) had 5000 printed & I would need to be poker buddies with Jeff Bezos to afford the 1925 $500. Mind you the DoC 1924 (Queen Mary) $5 may have had 2,000,000 printed but few of those were released so that they can be very dear in UNC.
Another cool note (which seems only to exist in specimen form is the p-14 5 Pound from Southern Rhodesia. If you could get an issued note in high grade....
I really like the super expensive mid denominations ($5.00) over the high denominations ($500) since everybody expects the high denominations to be expensive (but might not realize that a $5 or 5 Pound note could have been scarce too). Also, all of the $500 were used between banks (or millionaires) so they were first bought by rich people & have always been owned by rich people (if one or a few exist).
@Serial_Number_8
Heh, the Bank of Ireland 500 Pound note is only known in the bank’s archive (hence the need to buy the bank to get one of the notes!). The £500 notes may have been used as bank transfer notes instead of sending gold - it was a very high denomination for the time.
Since the largest part of my collection is Kingdom of Poland and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and I do not yet have any Polish gold, this coin would seem to be the obvious choice: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces96721.html
It's a bit over the top, but I suppose I could get used to it.

If I could get any coin I would obtain one of three coins I like but cannot get, not mainly because of the price but the fact that many games are out there. I would get a one peso coin from Cuba ( the artwork is great) or Puerto Rico or the dollar coin from Hawaii. The last two because I am trying to get at least one silver coin from 100 different countries.
recently cane upon this one which sold for 120.000 Swiss Franks exluding the auction house upcharges.
