As all of you know, Brexit has changed the shopping abroad, here's an article on that topic: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-55841048
In the light of this and similar articles elsewhere, I expect that buying coins from the EU will incur additional charges (eg. VAT). Has anyone from the UK had an experience with buying coins from the EU (I'm especially interested in the auction houses - rather than eBay or similar services - located there) post-Brexit? Have your purchase been hit with extra fees?
Being in Germany I plan to reduce my purchases from UK Auction houses.
Exception might be if they have a distribution office in the EU where I would not have to pay additional charges . Other exception for coins and medals I absolutely want and am ready to pay a nice premium on the purchase price.
So far I had only one Purchase this year where I had to pay a big surcharge.

The Tax I paid was what we call here in Germany "Einfuhrumsatzsteuer".
A Tax for purchases of higher value from non EU or countries which are not part of the European Customs Union.
What it meant as costs was 19% added to the total cost + a small handling charge.
Before Brexit I did not have to pay these 19%

I live in Finland and for me the extra cost is 24 % vat/customs + handling costs. I used to buy from UK auctions but now the item should be really special.
Well I buy coins directly from the Royal Mint and get them shipped to Australia.
They do not charge VAT to customers external to the UK so this years Uncirculated Set was 20% off for me as it was last year and the year before that.
That reduction in the price nicely paid for the postage to get it over here.
I don't think Brexit has made any difference at all in regards to pricing, for me anyway.
Cheers Mike
PS - I also know that the Royal Australian Mint does not charge overseas customers GST on any purchases either. GST is the same as VAT except it is only 10% instead of 20%.
GST = Goods & Services Tax
VAT = Value Added Tax

Brexit is now also hitting on swaps ... at least in Belgium.
Today I got my second letter from Belgian Post that a letter from UK was being held up at customs for not containing documents to declare the value. They do seem to have had the CN23-form, but did not contain an invoice (or declaration of value) as is needed from me when I send out a package. So even trying to sneak out coins as letters to the European mainland seems to be getting harder. The first letter seems to have been released after sending on a declaration from the sender of it being a gift (thanks Ryan ) and hopefully so will the second one. But it did delay the letter by a few weeks.
Wondering if I'm just being unlucky or are other encountering the same, in Belgium or elsewhere in EU. Will we soon not be able to hide coins in letters anymore?
