Hi,

I strongly feel Umberto is telling me this coin is a fake. Please tell me if he's telling the truth:

weight: 27.6g
diam: 40mm

Maybe it is the colour of the pictures, but it does not look like silver.

For comparison ...

Yes, though the surface also looks too smooth. Like it was made yesterday.
Not in 1891.

that's exactly what makes me suspect it's not genuine. if the weight was off by more than 2 grams, i would've probably been sure. I'll post better photos
The lettering is all wrong on this one. The most obvious example is the C in COLONIA, as well as the serifs on the I's. Definitely a counterfeit.
Here showing examples of the 1891 fakes

Umberto is telling you the truth! It's a very ugly fake.
You can see it from the stoner eye and rim (in particular obverse lower left).
Many italian expensive silver crown and gold you can buy at local markets at very low price: 2 to 5 euro.
Some years ago when i collected world coins i got in my collection about 50 different very nice fakes pieces.
Very useful to fill empty spaces of very expensive coins.
Be careful before to accept these coins

Thank you, very good eye. I checked the C and the bottom curve is completely different. definite fake. it just struck me that the coin did not look struck - very poor detail for its seeming new (well apparently too new) condition
