yes, this definitely happened, it wasn't CRAZY prevalent but it was out there. That was on the old paper notes with Prime Minister Laurier, haven't heard of that for the new polymer ones

One of the few times I enjoyed seeing CDN banknotes defaced as such. A nice creative outlet for our cold winters!
