Quote: "BluHawk"That is impressive. I am sure they are all in pristine AU or UNC condition.
Thanks. The majority of my world banknotes are in UNC but several older/rarer CDN banknotes come in various conditions.
Two years ago, I went to the Philippines for a month & fell in love with the people & the country. I came back to discover I could buy modern UNC solid radars for as little as $10 per note. That's why my 2nd highest country is the Philippines (sort of went on a buying spree).
Let me see mine:
1st) Brazil (135 - home country)
2nd) Germany (27)
3rd) Argentina (21)
4th) China (15)
5th) Russia (14)
6th) Poland (13)
7th) Portugal (12, tied with Belarus)
7th) Belarus (12, tied with Portugal)
8th) Italy (10, tied with Hungary and Thailand)
8th) Hungary (10, tied with Italy and Thailand)
8th) Thailand (10, tied with Italy and Hungary)
Quote: "COINMAN1"Was going to add my top 10, but realised they had to be listed on the Numista listings, which mine are not.
I've revised the criteria (wasn't really thinking it through) bc no one should feel left out. I just started collecting world notes recently & trust me, the last thing I would have ever considered would have been having a top 10 countries list (let alone sharing this). It is all new to me too.
So please feel free to share "COINMAN1" & "BluHawk."
Great lists "Giobruno" & "Allexis

Thank you for allowing me to add my list
Seriously awesome......2235.....that is more than the notes & coins in my collection.
I am sure that is what years of hardwork looks like.
BluHawk,
My total banknote collection is 4,602 from 206 issuers, but in reality only 204 issuers, as they split German Notgeld into three. I am happy with that total, at the moment but always looking for more.
Hoping for swaps in 2021
Received another 9 German Notgeld banknotes. Seven added into my collection, two added to swaps. Nice little eBay purchase, and an early Christmas present to myself. Total now at 2,242 German Notgeld.
My own country, Great Britain, is 16th on my list, but I try not to collect variants of the same banknote for any country, if I can help it.
I collect coins by type, so I assume, I collect banknotes in a similar vain, with a few exceptions.

Sorry about the waffling on.
Cool Xmas gift.
When you say variants - is it any variant. Like say different signature or year.
Long back I was like that, after joining Numista - I have sort of veered towards getting the variants. I only do that for the Indian & UK banknotes.
BluHawk,
As for coins, I collect by type, so, only collect 1 of each KM#, Y# ect. So do not want coins of the same reference number but different dates.
As for banknotes, I follow, where possible, a very similar system, so not really collect banknotes, where the catalogue number changes when the signature/date changes.
I have a few exceptions to my banknote rules. I have one of every USA $1 banknote, but with all the different issuers. Also, some German banknotes, I will collect a couple of variants.
My rule on UK coins only is exactly opposite. I collect as many dates as I can get of each denomination, irrespective of catalogue number. As you may have read in other parts of the forum, I am chasing all of the 2019 Alphabet 10 pence coins, but only from circulation or swaps. I did the 2018 series exactly the same way, except I was actually given some from a Numista member.
Sorry again for the waffling, but could talk all day and night when it comes to collecting. That's what my wife says too.
