When I enter my coins, is this what I paid for the coin, or what I value the coin at? From the note at the bottom of the coin page, I think it is what my purchase price was, so that's what I've been entering. Do other people on the site see the value I entered?
On a similar note..what do others use to for market value, say for trades and to sell? I use the NGC price guide for expected values, fully understanding it is likely twice too much. But at least it's a standard number I can make calculations across the board from. Better than pulling values from multiple sources with varying degrees of error.
I can't speak for anybody else but I put in what I consider the amount I could sell them for. I too use the NGC price guide. Many of the coins I have I've had since I was a kid 50 years ago and were bought for $5 per bag full. In the end, I think you can do it however you want to.

It is intended for the price you bought the coin but like mentioned it is a very fuzzy value ... how do you handle bulg coins, out of circulation/ gifts and do you include shipping or auction fees etc.
It is what ypu payed for the coin.
If you pay, let's say 100 coins for $50, I just take 100 coins÷$50 (100/50=2), so then I payed $3 per coin. Why make it complicated?

Good point but your math needs a little improvement. $50 for 100 coins is $0.50 per coin. : )

LOL! Yeah, you're right. I have a number dyslexia, so I can't separate numbers from each other - as you can see. Like, where did the 3 come from?
Also, since it says "buying value", it simply means "the value you blught it for". Nothing else.
My problem with the simple divide price by coin is that I most often by lots just for one coin everything else is often extra.
One example from me a 100€ lot with 5 coins I haven't put 20€ on the common 1-3€ coins, I weight their rarity like 90% the big scarce coin then 10%/4 or something.
