Hi! I have this bill pictured below. The banknote lacks security features and looking at the banknotes already listed on this website, it seems to be counterfeit. Here are the banknotes I'm talking about:
The most prominent "mistake" on my banknote is that of the 50 not written fifty on the reverse. It is also missing small details, like that of the writing missing on the border of the obverse.
I just wanted to get others' opinions before I rejected it myself. Happy collecting!
And I remember reading that on real notes the signature turns brown with the age (discolouration of the ink), so black signatures point to fakes or reproductions. Though I don't know if it applies to all of those confederate notes.
Just call me Bram
No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
Quote: "BluHawk"Not an expert and with your warning about a probable fake - the white in the note looks very white....doesn't have the look of something old.
It seems that the picture makes the banknote whiter than it really is... I agree with you that it doesn’t look old though. Thanks BluHawk for the observation!

Interesting. Hard to say because the ink on the banknote does seem dark brown.... well thanks for the information BramVB!
The black signatures are a give away that this is a fake note. The signatures were not added at the printing of the note, they were added later, so they oxidize to a rust, or brown color. None of this is evident on this note.
