A map of the British Isles in 1838 (On a coin of course!)

I've been digging through my old stuff lately and found this medal. Quite a beautiful one in WM. BHM 1809.

I find it interesting how navigationally it's almost entirely correct, but the sizes of territories are way off in many cases! Anyway, just thought I'd show it off as it's a bit interesting. (I actually have the accompanying paper slip from 1838 listing all those counties, but it's in really poor condition and fragile so I didn't want to mess around photographing it)

The cartographers of the past were an amazing lot. Some of the stuff they have done is mighty impressive.

Any picture of Ireland that doesn't have that horrible squiggly line in the northeast corner looks great to me.:D

I have a bid on that one at a cheeky 50 euros haha!

I think that's BHM1810 - there's 3 in total, this is BHM1808 https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=lot&sid=2686&lot=769

Pretty medals which I wish were in silver :)
That is amazing and a good historical piece showing the outlines of the Royal counties and Shires before the 1870s boundaries being redrawn.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
