Funny thing is that the date in the photo appears to be 1995. Really hard to tell. Mine is definitely 1996.

Thank you!
I'd swear mine has the Thai date 1995. As you say, it's hard to tell. You would think it should be 1996, unless the Mint had prior information that His Majesty would win the award. I don't know how likely that is.

For me it should be changed to 1539 (1996). The last digit of the date in Thai looks more like a 9 than an 8 to me, and in Western script it clearly says 1996.
I had another look, and at a better chart, and I have to stand by mine looking more like an ‘8’, but then you could easily mistake it for a ‘4’. I'm not an expert and am a westerner ( or southerner, if you like), to me it definitely looks like an ‘8’. Could there be an error here? I'm just raising the possibility. Common sense dictates that the coin was minted in 1996, and the Gregorian date is clear to see. I don't have another of these coins to compare it to, apart from the Numista photo, and it is exactly the same.
All the best, AY
To me, the last number of the date in Thai looks much more like a 9 than an 8.
And obviously, the date in English is 1996.
Then it should be 2539 (1996)
Let's see what Numista referee from Thailand says ;)
Poke @Sakrificed
It should be B.E.2539/AD1996. (2538/1995 should not exist for this type.)
I will report to the catalog admin to have date change.
Thanks.
Cool. At least now we have a definitive answer. I'm not invested in this debate and am glad to see a conclusion. Thanks to the refs for their time.
All the best, AY
