Firstly, I got what I consider to be a bargain (do you all?) twelve Gibraltar Crowns featuring WW2 Warships for the princely sum of 99 pounds (on eBay).
The problem is the case, which is torn and tatty , but authentic due to COA and title in the lid. So do I get a smart blue velveteen case to match my other smart coins (and keep the case) or do I keep them in their original but authentic tailor made ragged /damaged case .
I am sure you will have views , the answer of course is to get a new case with the right title but this I imagine will be a difficult find.
Charles,
You, yourself gave the only three options available.
1. Keep original tatty case
2. Buy any new case
3. Wait to buy a new case that actually has correct title.
My vote goes to 3. , but if original case really does detract from the coins, I would go with 2, which can be bought extremely cheap. I had some given to me for free, then hunt for true replacement.
Best of luck, with whatever you decide, but I need to know.
If, as I have seen in my local coin shop, Isle of Man and Gibraltar crown sized coins are priced per coin, with, or without the box, so, in reality, the box is free.
This may not always be the case, but that is how I have found it. I actually have 5 of these blue cases, all of which are used to keep my swap coins in. The coin shop man is happy to get rid of them.
Charles,
Put up photographs of the written information on the inside/outside of the lid, and I will send an email to my coin shop man, and see if he may have one.
Not guarantee, but I can only ask.
Believe me I am forever "Liberating" Proof and Mint sets from bad and worn out packaging, especially cases that have broken edges, toned padding, ripped padding or whatever else. To me unless its super rare, if the packaging is affecting coins, I remove the coins.
After all 90% of the time, the reasons we buy this stuff is for the coins not the packaging!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Started a bit of a debate ..😃 thanks for advice ... Am I right in assuming if selling withoriginal packaging is more valuable.
For example , I have bought royal crown coins in single plastic covers with the event printed on , I have taken coins out to store with similar subject matter , but kept the empty cases. If there is no difference I’ll Chuck them away. (My wife is giving me grief about the space my coin collection is taking up) 😳😁
As you can see , the case is in a very poor state . The title in the Lid is “Victory at Seal and has spaces for 12 Crowns .
The coins(1993] are in good condition, albeit a little toned , but the individual coins are listed on eBay fir 15-20 pounds each , so 99 pounds for the whole set ,I believe, hopefully not naively , is good value.
That is very sad. I love seeing the parents and grand parents supporting the kids. The atmosphere is so much better. I have an U13's girls game this morning.
Also, our first grand daughter will be born during October. We say that will be amazing, is the understatement of the century.
Charles,
My friend has replied to my request, and although he has some nice wooden cases, he does not have the exact box you are looking for.
Sorry I write with sad news
