I just realised I went past my 1000th post without noticing!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Lovely indeed. I chickened out of trying to collect Visigothic Tremmisses, they are so well counterfeited it's often impossible to tell so your buying choice comes down to 3 or 4 renowned auction houses that know about that stuff. :/
I have just bought a whole lot of very nice Australian Florins - details when I get them!
Meanwhile another Halfcrown upgrade. An AU example of the less common George VI date - 1938
Again my cellphone camera can not capture the lustre it gives out - dazzles your retinas.

Got a bunch of nice historical additions to my collection this week:
Prussia - 18 Gröscher 1685 - Elector Friedrich Wilhelm I. "Der große Kurfürst" - My first coin with this bust type
Bavaria - 6 Kreuzer 1744 - Emperor Charles VII. - Coin from the reign of the first and last non-Habsburgian holy roman emperor since 1404. Bavaria really tried to play the game of thrones in that time but the reign of Charles as Emperor has not been a happy time for him.
Austria - 30 Kreuzer 1768 - Emperor Joseph II.
France - 1 Double Tournois - King Henri IV. - Finally fills this gap in my collection of french monarchs. The coin got a hole but otherwise the condition is awesome.
Vatican - 1913 - Medal commemorating the 1600st jubilee of Emperor Constantine I. edict of tolerance toward the christians.
Saxony - 1891 - Medal commemorating the marriage of later King Friedrich August III. and Luise of Austria-Tuscany
Obv: Bearded head of youthful Herakles right, wearing lion's skin around neck
Rev: ΣAPΔI-ANΩN; Amphora, monogram in lower right field

Macedonian Kingdom: Alexander III ‘the Great’ (336-323 BCE) Æ Unit, Uncertain Mint in Macedon (Price 266)
Obv: Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress
Rev: ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ; Bow in bowcase and club, monogram above

I've been looking to get this one too. May I ask what you payed for it?
With everything, shipping & taxes $534. It has this damage on top of the head, it came down to be a bit cheaper than a couple of other ones. I even suspect it was cut in half, and then put back together.
Even better, I understand it's the rarer Type B coin, with the edge legend facing upwards relative to the Reverse. Being a collector of French coins, to say I was more than pleasantly surprised would be quite the understatement.
In the crushing darkness of the ocean deeps, the Lurking Squid sits atop his burgeoning hoard of silver coins...
Came in yesterday.
a so called Reisetaler or also called Schiffstaler from Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.

King George VI - the 1938 is high VF, the rest is EF to UNC, 1941, 1944S and 1946/47 are UNC!

Got a few nice new medals this week:
Italian medal from 1931 celebrating the exhibition of the shroud of turin after the wedding of Prince Umberto who would later be Umberto II. last king of italy. It will fill this gap in my collection because this King sadly never had the chance to issue coins:
1910 medal from Belgium featuring a nice portrait of King Albert and Queen Elisabeth. On the reverse the creation of an orphan charity fund gets celebrated. You see the personified Belgium reaching a child to Queen Elisabeth:
1900 medal from France featuring the Orleanist throne pretender of that time Duc Philippe. He was one of the more active pretenders for the french throne:
It has inscription that appears in another coin from Northern Song Dynasty (1008-1016), but manchu script on reverse side, which is commonly found in Qing Dynasties (1722-1911) coins.
The coin is made of lead/tin since it appeared blackish, meaning that the coin are probably used in South East Asian area.
Upon brief research, it is shown that that this coin is an imitation cash coin and mainly found in Eastern Java. However there is only a few information as it is still uncertain for its usage (Circulation coin? Token? Ritual coin?), and any references to this particular coin.
British silver and better than average pennies (1890 - 1919)
1987 BU set and almost EF 1907 penny
Highlights from an Australian $2 coin collection with most of the coloured ring ones.
