I recently just bought some banknotes and the seller sent in a few Mongolian Togrogs (5, 10, and 20) as bonus. While examining them one by one, I found that the 10 and 20 Togrogs (both dated 2014) don't have watermarks.
On the other hand, the 5 Togrogs dated 2008 which come from the same package has the usual Genghis Khan watermark in it. I also have a 20 Togrog dated 2011 which also showed the same watermark. So are the notes mentioned above fake (which is a weird thing to do with small valued note) or the lower-valued Togrogs dated 2014 just don't have watermarks?
Since these are super cheap notes, probably this shouldn't be a big issue.. But I'm just curious.
That's right, every banknote from 1 to 20 togrogs dated 2014 lacks both the watermark and security thread. The only exception is the 10.000 togrog note, probably due to its high denomination.
