I'd like to say thanks to all the contributions to the Numista catalogue. With about three and a quarter thousand different coin types, Numista provides a really nice selection for all of your coins.
With new entries listed everyday, it'd be really helpful if you could help out with editing photos. Just yesterday a member on Numista showed me a program that cuts out the background of a coin photo and also allows photo rotation, which makes coin photo editing very quick and simple. I'd spend hours if I could, but there are tons of photos to edit.
So this is how it works. First download the program (it's safe; I promise), then select the editor. From here you can edit photos of coin images you have or save photos already uploaded on Numista that need editing. Photos that are not rotated properly, have a background, or need sprucing up should be modified. Once saved, simply rotate the image using the Rotate Arbitrary and clicking on the Rotate tab on the top. Once rotated, remove the background by clicking on the Crop tab and checking Crop Round Image. From there, remove the background and edge (reeding or lettering). Save the image. Lastly, modify the entry on Numista and click on the New image button, selecting the modified image. Be sure to select Keep the source unchanged. Modify the data, and your request will most likely be accepted. Rejected requests, though uncommon, are due to unproperly modified images; contact me if you have questions on rejected requests.
Besides photo editing you can always contribute to the catalogue by using the modification request system, by adding new coins to the catalogue, or publishing articles through the Numisdoc.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Message me or post on this topic if you have any questions.

I downloaded it just now, and so far so good. I show before, during, after so members can see the program in action. I wished to get the slight blue tinge of background removed so ...
Top left pane is where I chose the location of the picture to be amended, below it is a display of images in that folder, and click on the required image puts a pale purple colour over it (in my example 22a image). This then appears large on the right-hand pane - see image 1 below.
At top of screen click on Editor, and at bottom appears Home/Object/Crop/Tools and go to Crop and put a tick in Crop Round Image. Then on large image click somewhere on top left and drag the circle over the image (a shaded area appears outside the circle so you can see what is to be cropped out). I show in image 2 below where so far I have it positioned correctly over the bottom and right and still have to drag little squares over the left and top.
Thirdly, when all looks as required, click on Saved Cropped Area and it will show you where it is going to be saved, and you can also rename the saved image if required. A box also appears asking about JPEG quality if required. The third image below I have changed from Crop section to Home section at bottom of screen, to show where the Rotate part is, but still showing above the final cropped image as well. So you can Crop and then Rotate if required. I left a black part on lower right of that third image, as unfortunately the original picture was not taken from directly overhead, more at a slight angle. So I guess I could crop again if required.
Still learning, and hope more members can help with images on here, as requested above!

Thanks. Over to SmartOneKg then, like he wrote at the start. He can have a look at before and after images, and maybe explain why rejected. What coins were they - have you a link?

Thanks - I hope he can see that.
The link goes to Error - Demande incorrecte
so I guess only you can read it.
Ideally a link to the coin page would help.
Will look at the 2012 boreal forests $2 Canada coin.
I have already used the program to amend a few in the 'Latest coins' and it works good.
The boreal coin looks alright now (apart from slight shadow at bottom which is alright, perhaps); maybe it is after someone (not me) amended it, or they relooked at your request, or someone separately did it, etc https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces26643.html

I had a quick go at those images, and hope the result is alright. Not sure what was wrong with your amendments; I have saved these original images in case they get rejected. Before and after ...
Thanks for your help; hope a rejection explanation from whoever did it will be useful.
It wasn't me who rejected your request on the Boreal Forests coin, truth be told. If you'd like, you may send the request a second time and, if it isn't the best picture, the request will be accepted and I'll make further changes myself. I'm sincerely apologize for having your request rejected, and if I had rejected it, I would put it in the reason field.
I'm really glad everyone's enjoying the program. It's absolutely fantastic and I feel that all of our pictures, member or not member, will stand out among other coin collecting websites.
One thing I should keep in mind: let's not focus on images from World Coin Gallery because they are in poor quality and they should be replaced by either images from better websites (Heritage Auctions, number 1 as always) or from users, who can provide high-quality images that usually require editing. Once edited, they look fantastic.
Thank you so much for your contributions, everyone.

Thanks SmartOne for sharing this photo editing tool. It is much easier to use for cropping coins than others I had been using... Therefore I will put it to good use on Numista when ever I add new coins to the catalogue.
SmartOne,
My good man,
I have recently added some colonial period Danish West Indies coins to my collection, and I noticed that section on Numista is incomplete and needs quite some work.... Some of the issues I have acquired are not even listed, and stuff like mintage figures is not available... I am proposing to volunteer in adding to, correcting and updating that section of the catalog.
I would of course be adding this data directly from the Krause Standard Catalogue Of World Coins. 1701-1800, 1801-1900, etc.. And, since I don't have much free time, this will likely be done over the next weeks/months... Is it okay to ask for your assistance, on occasions, in verifying this information as it is added? I will send you a PM and also post a separate topic for this to enlist help from others.

Sure, I'll check your new entries and make sure they're tip-top shape.
I'll also verify your requests and make sure they look good. By the way, this is why I add entries and verify pages, both new and existing, because stuff like this happens.
