ISIS Dinar.

Hi All. Anybody come across any ISIS Dinar yet and should there be a section on ISIS Dinar on Numista?

While it would technically be something that would be interesting to some people to collect, the problem with ISIS coins is that while ISIS were a major group, the buying of ISIS coins would usually result in directly funding them. Unless you can confirm that the coin were found by say, a NATO soldier who brought them home and then sold them, you really can't tell where it's coming from.

I would also probably guess and say that owning such a thing would also carry its own legal complications.

​I couldn't agree more. Still it's hard to imagine no member of Numista having such coins.

I would be keen to know how widespread the use of those ISIS coins were when they actually controlled areas of Iraq and syria. I normally don't collect tokens/exonumia, but these would be interesting from a historic point of view.

Now that ISIS does not control any territory, those coins would be no more different than Nazi coinage, so i would not be anymore concerned about funding isis if I were to acquire these coins than i would be worrying about neo-nazi orgainsations benefitting from nazi coin sales
