I was stood in my back garden yesterday evening, and it was beautifully clear.
To the South West was the Moon, when looking South, I could see Jupiter, slightly to the right of Saturn. At 7.52pm, the ISS (International Space Station) flew across the sky for 6 minutes. Just a little later, Mars appeared in the East.
Never seen that much Cosmic activity in one amazing evening before.
All of the planet's will be visible for a while yet, with the Moon slowly traversing the sky, and the ISS will again cross my skyline, so hoping for more view, especially this Thursday, as it's my birthday.
Did you see the Perseids back in August? They were stunning. I saw around 35 meteors in 2 hours! Stargazing is a wonderful thing, but being in London I can only really see the moon and 4 or 5 of the brightest stars. I watched the Perseids from Mallorca, so the sky was quite a bit clearer there.
On the 25th September, I was in the Brecon Beacons, for a star gazing night.
Up there, three telescopes were set up, which could be changed electronically to view anything in the night sky.
I saw, for the first time, the majestic rings of Saturn, Jupiter, the Moon, the Milky Way, the Seven Sisters, Mars, Andromeda, and although it was only a small white dot, Uranus.
I was also shown many other stars. Brilliant night, but the rings of Saturn was my number 1.
