Abstract

For ages, the chief matters of importance in the world's progress, and, indeed, the persons themselves who have taken part in its
development, have been commemorated upon coins, jetons, and medals.

This work includes the major part of all medals that in any way relate to the science of medicine: physicians, surgeons, veterinarians, dentists, pharmacists, empirics, hospitals, medical colleges and societies, epidemics, sanitation, and, in fact, everything associated with the medical art. Allied to it are necessarily the medals that are medico-ecclesiastical, as well as those of temperance and famine.
