Żeton propagandowy wybity dla upamiętnienia francuskiego zwycięstwa w 1857 r. W maju 1857 r., będąc gubernatorem Algierii, generał Jacques Louis Randon zorganizował ekspedycję wojskową do Djurdjura w Kabylia. Na początku lipca Wielka Kabylia została opanowana, a opór Algierczyków ustał.
