Żeton propagandowy wybity dla upamiętnienia francuskiego zwycięstwa w 1857 roku. Ówczesny gubernator Algierii, generał Jacques Louis Randon zorganizował ekspedycję wojskową w maju 1857 r. w Djurdjura w Kabylia. Na początku lipca Wielka Kabylia została podporządkowana, a opór Algierczyków ustał.
