Authenticity of the gold coins of Amyntas is doubtful, considered they were made around 1845 by a goldsmith from Smyrna, see Wroth's introduction to the British Museum Catalogue Volume 20, Catalogue of the Greek Coins of Galatia, Cappadocia, and Syria, p. xix.

Louis Mayer was the first to denounce their forgery in 1871-1872 in the Numismatiche Zeitschrift (Volume III, p. 435).
