Widok na Vallettę, stolicę Malty od 1571 roku. Samo miasto zostało wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO w 1980 roku, będąc jednocześnie najbardziej wysuniętą na południe stolicą europejską i najmniejszą stolicą w Unii Europejskiej. Nazwana na cześć arcymistrza Jeana De Valette, który położył fundamenty tego planowanego miasta w 1566 roku.

Mapa geograficzna Europy Zachodniej obejmuje zewnętrzny pierścień i wewnętrzny rdzeń po prawej stronie monety. Napis 2 EURO jest nałożony na mapę Europy, a cyfra "2" znajduje się w otwartym polu reprezentującym wschodni Ocean Atlantycki. 12 gwiazd znajduje się po prawej stronie zewnętrznego pierścienia, z sześcioma gwiazdami na górze mapy Europy i sześcioma gwiazdami pod nią; sześć pionowych pasów przecina wewnętrzny rdzeń monety, wizualnie łącząc górne i dolne segmenty gwiazd.
