Motywem monety jest głowa Giovanniego BOCCACCIO w ujęciu trzech czwartych zwrócona w prawo, zaczerpnięta z fresku Andrei del Castagno z ok. 1450 r. (Florencja, Galleria degli Uffizi); wokół, na dole, napis BOCCACCIO 1313 2013; po prawej stronie nałożone litery R (monogram Mennicy Rzymskiej)/RI (monogram Republiki Włoskiej)/m (monogram autora Roberto Mauriego). Na zewnętrznym otoku monety umieszczono 12 gwiazd Unii Europejskiej.
