Released in the coronation year of King Charles III, the sets feature eight brand-new reverse designs that pay tribute to King Charles III, the four nations of the United Kingdom and the natural world.

It has been reported that there are variants in relation to the alignment of the alternate reeded edges with the design of both sides. However, it has been confirmed by the Royal Mint Museum that this is just a consequence of the method of production and entirely random.

The 2023 and subsequent strikes which entered circulation do not feature the privy mark.

The 2023 strikes issued in the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof Sets feature a special Tudor crown privy mark. Sets issued were a Brilliant Uncirculated Definitive Set (sales unknown), a BU historic set which included a set of 1948 coinage (issue limit: 2,023; sales 2,023) a first and last BU set (sales unknown) as well as in Proof (issue limit: 12,023; sales unknown)

The 2024 coin was issued as part of the Annual Commemorative Proof (7,500 issue limit), Premium Commemorative Proof (2,024 issue limit) and Brilliant Uncirculated Commemorative sets.

The 2024 coin was also available at the Royal Mint Experience as a Brilliant Uncirculated ‘Strike Your Own’ edition between 02/01/24 - 31/01/24 (sales unknown)

The 2025 coin was issued as part of the Annual Commemorative Proof (7,500 issue limit), Premium Commemorative Proof (2,024 issue limit) and the Brilliant Uncirculated strike was in Commemorative sets.

The 2026 coin was issued as part of the Annual Commemorative Proof set (6,500 issue limit), Premium Commemorative Proof set (2,000 issue limit) and the Brilliant Uncirculated strike was in the Definitive set, the Annual set and the Baby Set.

The design was also struck in silver proof and gold proof.

The 2026 coin was also available at the Royal Mint Experience as a Brilliant Uncirculated ‘Strike Your Own’ edition from 02/01/26 (sales unknown) as part of the 10th Anniversary of the Royal Mint Experience.
