The first time a royal event was celebrated on a UK 50p coin. This coin with the Queen on horseback obverse was issued to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and was issued individually as well as in a 2-coin set (700 issue limit). The coin was also struck in copper-nickel, silver piedfort, gold proof and platinum proof. Issue limit: 7,605.

A strike with the Jody Clark 5th portrait obverse was issued as part of the Annual Silver Proof set for 2022.
