Released individually (866 sales) and as a 2-coin set (no sales data) with the Victoria Cross Soldier, while also being struck in copper-nickel, silver proof and silver piedfort.

The coin was re-issued in October 2009 as part of the 16-piece set, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination. The 2009 issue was also struck in copper-nickel, silver proof and gold proof. Issue limit: 70.

The design was used again in 2019 with the Jody Clark fifth portrait to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 50p in the Military set.
