Issued by the Central Bank of Libya as part of a new series of banknotes introduced following the 2011 Libyan Civil War, and was issued into circulation on March 31, 2013. Two versions of this note were issued for circulation, but are used by the two rival governments of the State of Libya, the 2013 20 dinars note (P-79/TBB 544) was issued by the Central Bank of Libya based in the capital city of Tripoli and the 2016 20 dinars banknote (P-83/TBB 548) was issued by the Central Bank of Libya based in Beida in Cyrenaica.

2013 Issue 20 dinars banknote (P-79/TBB 544) has serial number at Left upper corner (Horizontal) and at Right side (Vertical).
2016 Issue 20 dinars banknote (P-83/TBB 548) has serial number at Left upper corner (Horizontal) and at Right lower corner (Horizontal).
