The item was distributed as a commemorative medal in a special branded gift box:
It was not put into circulation due to ban by the State Bank of the USSR. Apparently most of declared mintage of 1000 pieces was melted down.
Soon after the Central Bank of Russia banned an issuance and circulation of coin-shaped certificates of deposit (see its Letter #14-3-20, 10.02.1992).
