Hi,

maybe we should simplify this a bit

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1608.html

and the entry in SCWC

In my opinion we should reduce the entry to just one year line for the Calcutta 2001 coins for each of two types 154.1 and 154.2. I have not found a documentation for the "normal"/"serif" 1, neither for the thin center line in the security edge.

This just because in a recent swap I got the version with a "normal" 1 and found out it's the same as the coin I got some years ago with a "serif" 1. Honestly, they are the same? See below.

From the swap

From my collection

It's not the first time I say that, but we should NOT accept variants with NO images to back them up! Of course, here it's coming from the SCWC, but as we know, they have plenty of errors! Specially we have to be careful with Indian coins and their varieties (plenty).

Dear Sjoelund

I agree with your request, In the 5 Rupees 2001 Kolkata Mint issue, There is no “with serif”, or “without Serif”.

In the first type, The Numerals are Thick and have less gap between Numerals and large serif.

In the second type, The Numerals are Thin and have a large gap between Numerals and small serif.

As per me, we can merge the year lines “with serif” and “without Serif”.  But we should keep the edge variant year lines.

Thanks.
