The 214.1 was minted in Philadelphia and the 214.2 was minted in London.

I have 2019 SCWC and these informations are not present...maybe you have an older more complete version.
Anyway I have both subtypes and the 2 coins have no difference...2 different mintmarks can justify 2 subtypes, but I don't see them...

Oops, sorry ! I should have mentioned the year of my copy, it's a 2005, so older is accurate at least.

In the 2018 edition they have US mints, maybe Philadelphia wasn't the only one.

​KM# 214 is split nicely between Philadelphia and the Royal Mint. KM# 214a was minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Lima. In some years multiple mints were used so the date formats can be used to help identify which mint a coin is from.

(The same applies for other denominations.)

I see nothing different on the coins (different subtype can be justified by different mintmarks... But I can't see them).

​Your initial question didn't have the word "visible".

Catalogs (Krause, Schön, or any other) are inconsistent. Sometimes no visible difference will still result in a different type, sometimes a visible difference doesn't result in a subtype. (See Greece KM# 77, 78, and 79. The small hole on 1971 has a noted visible difference, and is even issued under a different ruler by a different mint, but no separate type identifier.)

Sometimes a mint change will result in a different type (as in this case), many times it won't be.
