When I received the coin I realised it was different from what the member had it catalogued as. The immediate sign of this was the obverse which is different to the picture also the dimensions of the coin are much larger...diameter 45mm, thickness 2.5mm and weight 27.8g. I am not sure about the composition but it is most definitely magnetic. It also has a milled edge.
Any help from the relevant referees with this would be appreciated. I am not overly bothered if it is a fake (knowing the Chinese market is full of them ) as the swap was for a circulation coin and cost me nothing in real terms but I would like to know some history behind it and how to or if I should catalogue this coin.
But a bad replica if what bbybugs says is correct...different years on different sides. Also I still haven't found any reason for the size difference. Apparently the Hu Poo is smaller than the one I have.
yea more a replica, you said the size is wrong. Not really intended to trick a serious coin collector, more to trick a tourist or allow a tourist to take something home that is chinese :D
You will find that they try to make a standardise coin size even tho it might not be right to make hundreds of different coins with the same planchets they being the Chinese counterfeiters to save on money and time when they place them in albums. As ACKEY MONEY O.o ....

Indeed.
All this kind of replicas have the same diameter.
All the blank planchets are indeed the same (or allmost), even for coins of other countries (USA, Brazil, Netherlands, Belgium, France...)
ps: how much did it cost you?

I will still put it in my album even though it is worth nothing as I collect for fun. I still think it looks kinda good (Does that make me not a serious coin collector )
It was part of a larger swap where my part were all UK 50 pence pieces so effectively it cost me 50p so a bargain even for a bad replica
