Help on ID, maybe Algeria?

Hello guys, need your help to ID this coin, unfortunately dont have information about diameter or weight... Thanks all!

I'm not sure whether this is a coin or token.

On the first two lines of the obverse: "Sultan Mahmood Khan"; I'm not sure of the word at the bottom because of the placement of the diacritics (dots).

The other side makes me think it's a token because the letters are unclear ─ kind of too loose. At the bottom, we have the date "1857" (سنة ١٨٥٧) I think (the "5" is somewhat doubtful).
