Silver or platinum plated?
I’m not sure. It feels like nickel or steel, actually.

Is there a different color in the hole?
Same color throughout.

Plated for jewelry (obviously after it was holed). We had quite a few such such coins here on Numista. I have an Elizabeth II South African penny that is just as yellow and shiny. Here's a video of how you can do it yourself.

My apologies that the photo looks yellow. It is, in fact, a bright silver color.
I see that your area of interest is Canada, though, so I’ll stick to your superior knowledge.

Now that I think about it, I actually have a 1953 copper coronation medal that was likewise plated to look shiny white.

Most of the time they have been plated in silver, platinum, or palladium.
Plated novelty coins are common:
... and usually in some common white or yellow shiny metal.

Would this be an appropriate place to ask how to classify it, then? Would it now be considered a token or something else?
