I don't know enough about Venetian gold coins to answer that but checking to make sure it's real is in my opinion always a good idea for valuable coins.

If it comes from a reputable dealer then I guess it's ok. Still, won't hurt to check.
Grading hammered coins is tricky and in my opinion the standard Sheldon coin grading scale can't be used. All I can say is if it's real it's a very nice coin.
