What coins do you collect?
Do you collect 1 of each KM#
Try to get all the years of each KM#
Try to get all the years and all the mintmarks of each KM#
That is an interesting question for me and I am not sure of my own answer. I suppose that I am collecting each date of every #KM. However, right now there are some countries whose coins I am not particularly interested in: Germany and Bulgaria, just two of the countries off the top of my head. As well as finding it fascinating that there are many mintmarks in the case of Germany, I just can't stand the sight of a 10 pfennig coin with patches of verdergris or rust. Older german coins are more fun and German states are nice.

I am not collecting many modern coins i.e. Euros, they just don't appeal to me that much but I do have a few Italian cents that I like. Obviously, I collect modern British coins and have just completed my 29 Olympic 50 pence series! I had to buy two from eBaY in the end!

That is about me, but most of my collection is found by rummaging in coin boxes of a dealer who scraps silver and copper...so unless I buy at auction it is slim pickings exciting coin wise. My best coins were given to me as a gift. I love collecting silver coins big or small.

I have increased my knowledge of coins and an excuse for a swap is sometimes all I need to extend my collection.

To finish, I must say that I am trying to fill in the Numista map and it is that, that drives my collecting force at present. Like other members I like beautiful coins, but my perameters for beauty I diverse. I like Italian and French coins for their curves and metallic friendly designs.

Sorry to go on...but I have to explain the method of my collection which isn't overly clear.
I collect coins like this:

I try to get each KM, but if I find a KM that I like, I might start buying two to four more coins of that KM, to trade or just to have. Then, there are some series, like Lincoln Cents, that I try to get one of each date and mint mark.
I collect mostly "toned" coins. Whether they are from the U.S. or world. Mostly silver but colorful copper is also very nice. I also collect comic books, and guns among other things. Of course, showing that off here would not be appropriate so that is why I created my website, for all sorts of collectors to unite in one place.

I collect coins that appear to have the greatest potential for a future profit.
Diverse.
I have the ambition to own anything struck in Austria-Hungary, which of course is very ambitious. Also, due to my education and business direction I am into Ottoman Empire and Middle East (e.g.Arabs and Turks).
Plus, as I am a Hungarian, and I have countries around me, I focus on Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and other newly-formed nations.
"Newly-formed" is a relative term as I strongly believe my focus, as I get older will be switching to SPQR, so I will be an expert on NVMMIS AVGVSTIAE.
Welcome to Rome!

I collect pre-1950 silver coins with a minimum silver content of 80%  I prefer shilling sized coins, so it's things like french, swiss and belgian francs, shillings, german marks, spanish pesetas, Early Itallian lira, US quarters.  I try to get 1 coin from each KM and if possible from the first year the KM was issued.  I also prefer slightly worn coins to uncirculated because they have a bit of history and dont seem so cold and impersonal.

I have a little sub collection of pre-decimal Fijian coins.  I tried to get one of each KM and once I had accomplished this I felt I didn't have enough, so now I'm trying to get one from each year for each KM.  I'm about 80% of the way there.
I collect only Indian coins ranging from 6th Century BC till date.

Please post some pics of the India ancients, would love to see them :)
I have always been interested in history. I like collecting coins of historical events. This year is the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee and the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Of course, there are many other historical events but these are the 2 events on which I am focusing in 2012. I also like coins related to the military.
