Hi!

I think I found small mistake for Venezuelan 25 Céntimos 1987 - in Krause is year 1987 listed as #50.2, here as .1.
So where is mistake???

Hi,

the 50.1 is 1.75 grs called thick
the 50.2 is 1.50 grs called thin.

Unfortunately KM gives the same weight for both numbers!

Anyway numista is wrong, since the 1987 is the thin version and thus km50.2!

So I guess there is work for Referee from Venezuela...  :)

(Edit: Already informed!)
Corrected; confirmed it on the catalog and indeed it was the thin one.

Hi,

I'll give the exact thickness and weight once back in Paris....

So based on many threads on this type it's concluded KM#50.1 is 1.75g, 50.2 is 1.5.

1987 is confirmed 1.5g (and different design to earn its own subnumber). 1977 and 1978 have the same design.

In my organizational notes 1978 is 1.5g but my example is 1.78g, almost the same as 1977 1.77g (heavier type obviously). Ole, I have seen your notes about existence of other types. I have not found varieties between the two years although I understand it might be defined as thick/thin as some dies are worn out so we miss a bit more details, especially in the head. But they are the same master dies.

May I use this thread to ask is existence of 1.5 g coin from 1978 (or 1977) confirmed? I see we have both weighs for both dates but can't find any verification other than numismatica.info.ve which I used to write my notes, that are copied from SCWC and likely wrong?

Not to throw a monkey wrench into this discussion but this post “confirms” that 50.1 and 50.2 weigh the same with the same thickness.  It doesn't look like the CR was ever submitted (or maybe was rejected).

Hi,

here is how I have documented the differences between the two KM#

As you can see, I do NOT talk about weights, nor thicknesses. I do NOT have the 1977 in it's thin version, I think, mine is 1.08mm!

UCoins, don't talk about the two versions of 1977/78, I haven't found any confirmation on internet, but that can be my fault. I don't have Schön, so I can't check there.

For the moment I prefer to think the km50.1 is for the 1977-78 and the km50.2 for the 1987…..

The physical dimensions of the coins in my collection are strictly the same:

That is exactly what I was referring to when I said, “this post “confirms” that 50.1 and 50.2 weigh the same with the same thickness.”

Thank you guys. Ok, I was wrong in my original post about 1987 weight, I did refer to Ole's table anyway and the comments about the existance of lighter pieces with question mark. But 1987 is modified design anyway so I am wondering is there any chance of lighter 1977/1978 piece?

So if anyone got an example weighing ~1.5g, now it's time to say that :D

My 1987 coin gets the same weight as my 1978 coin, with a different design on obverse.

According to discussion above, I issue a change request
