The Doppio Giulio is a 5 gram silver coin worth 2 Giulii or one fifth of a scudo, in the catalog, we have this written in many ways. While any of the above would be correct we find , "Doppia Giulio" "2 Giulio" "1 Doppia, 2 Giulio" as the name used in the catalog both of which are incorrect as they do not fit with italian grammar. I would ask that we unify the terms we use for these coins. In all Italian auction houses I can't find any example of the name Giulii being used.
Doppio Giulio seems to be what is used.
It should be unified and it seems Doppio Giulio seems to be what is used.

I quite agree that doppio giulio is the best name. Giulii is giust the grammatically correct plural form which would be used if the name was preceded by a numeral.

It should be written as 2 Giulio in the title, and "Doppia Giulio" in the written value. I write the correct value in the title, and any alternative terms in the written value, such as Doppia Giulio. That way both are searchable. Yes, you can submit requests as above.

Hey nthn, sorry if I'm being unclear, I am not aware of any coins bearing either name. I am just making a few Italian grammatical precisions, notably that "2 Giulio" in the title should be "2 Giulii" as per a few references here:
And that "Doppia Giulio" should be "Doppio Giulio" due to the word Giulio being masculine.

I'll give you the English counterexample,
Doppio (WITH AN O!) Giulio translates to Double Giulio and is therefore correct.
saying that it translates to 2 Giulio is like saying that a "double cent" translates to "two cent" while the correct translation is "two cents"
In answer to your other point, yes, people of the time would have referred to an individual COIN as a "Doppio Giulio" or even "Quadruplo Giulio" in the same way as we would refer to a 2 dollar coin as a toonie, however an amount of Giulii would have been written as "2 Giulii, 3 Giulii, 4 Giulii" and so on.
Therefore as you had suggested the title should be "Doppio Giulio" WITH AN O and the value should be "2 Giulii"
Here is an example of a contemporary text using the word "Giulii"
