Unidentified Holed coin/token? Please help!

4 posts
Hi

We found this coin/token on a battle site in South Africa while metal detecting.
I know quite alot about identifying coins, but this is very strange to me.
Unfortunately I am still waiting for pictures of the cleaned coin/token from the archaeologist.
The writing seems Gothic script.
Any ideas?

and also has the lower case Roman numerals mdcccxlviii below it.
I hope yours is around 26.6mm as you did not say.
They were like an early version of Monopoly money, and also called toy coins.
