Swaps inactivity

I love this site but have one large complaint.  I have posted something to this effect before and have received many positive answers, but I would like the forum to try to do something about the lack of responses to swap requests.  I fail to understand why members post their coins for swap and go to the trouble of listing their coins and then fail to respond to a swap offer.  I think they at least should keep up with the site and check their mail frequently and respond to an offer.  All they have to do is to check the block that a swap is denied.  I know that many members do not have the luxury of checking this site daily, as I do, because of work, sickness, vacation, etc., but I have had some offers on the site for over a month and no responses.  Would like to hear from other members on this.  Louie (Luskie)

What should you have us do? Execute anyone who fails to respond to a request within 7 days? Invade their country of residence, trash their infrastructure, award rebuilding contracts to our chums in the construction industry in return for large commissions?

Matt
No, none of those things you suggest.  Consider this.  How much trouble would it be to send a short PM or email saying no thanks or not interested.  People entered their coins and collections to swap and further their collections or, as you have done, just indicate that you are not swapping at this time and that would preclude anyone offering a swap.  Louie
Luskie, As you say, common courtesy shouldn't be hard to come by...some members might not log in as often as addictive me...I'd be willing to do most of the things Matt suggested...joke...but I can understand your frustrations. I'm hoping my guide to swapping will help resolve some of this. But...I was thinking maybe with the reply box maybe we can have a bank of quick replies...or maybe a holiday account mode...or inactive mode (Blank has not logged in for some time)? Just some ideas. There might be a language issue but even so I think, I'd just write them off my swap list.

There is a checkbox on one's profile page to say "I don't want to swap temporarily", and it shows on the swap list as a  :Zz: dozing smily.

Do people ignore it and ask you for swaps anyway? Oh yes!

Matt
Exactly.  That is what I meant.  When I see that icon I do not try to contact that collector.  If all who did not want to trade would use that, it will make it much easier to contact those who do want to swap.  Wish there were some way to get a note to each member to use this icon when not interested in swapping.  Louie

I couldn't agree more. I have suspended swapping until after Christmas, for two very good reasons. 1) The post in the UK is a nightmare at this time of year, with lots of things going missing. And 2 because I can not afford the postage.

Despite announcing this on my profile page, and checking the appropriate box ( :Zz: ) I am still getting requests for my UK 50p duplicates, which as I keep saying are rather special and I only want to swap for other Olympic 50ps I don't already have. Remaining polite after the third or fourth swap request ignoring all my statements is quite a challenge!
